Does anyone know if there is any tax relief for a homeowner who cannot live in their home (condo) due to mold?

We spent 7 months living at an extended stay motel and then finally signed a year lease at an apartment because the Association/Property Manager have not rectified the situation. We have continued to pay our mortgage and association payments this entire time, and after this week, it will be a year since we have lived in our condo.

Can anyone confirm one way or another, or provide me with a resource where I can find this out (such as on-line Search criteria)?

Boy do I wish it were the case a few years ago - I lived out of my home in hotels for at least 4 years.

A quick google search under "toxic mold" +tax break gave this as one of the web sites: http://www.ccim.com/members/govaffairs/bulletins/volvii3.html#6
Click on the Toxic Mold HR 5040 link & it talks about tax breaks for mold victims

I do not believe this bill ever passed, but have been mostly out of loop on this stuff for many years. Possibly someone else here knows.

In addition it might we worth at least trying to talk to a local tax preparation company (try to find a mom & pop type shop that's been in business for awhile) and see what they say. There may be a real estate disaster relief type break that applies in a general sense (vice a specifically mentioned mold tax break).
