My family has been exposed to toxic mold. We lived in a highly contaminated hosue for 11 months. My husband suffered from a heart attack just 6 weeks after moving in. My daughter has been diagnosed with Asthma. My son was hospitalized because he was so swollen from hives from head to toe. I have been hospitalized three times in the past four months...10 days each time.

The best advice I can give anyone who is exposed is to find a network of doctors who have studied what the effects mold has on you. The doctor we are seeing is on this website. He doesn't just diagnose you, he truly tries to help rid your body of molds.

The first thing he had my family do was bloowork at Immunosciences Lab. The testing is expensive but very complete. They do complete immunolgy Test and Fungal panels including blood and saliva. IGM, IGE, and saliva.

Our dcotor also did regular blood work-up and Subpopulation, NK Function and Chemical Antibodies tests.

We have also done a neurophych evaluaion, TOVA, Microcog, SPECT, PET, MRI, Eye consults, ENT workup, Pulmonary consults, Physicals, and skin consults.

Our doctor really has helped and has a network of doctors who work with him. There is help out there!

Have any of you used a hyperbaric chamber? It truly helps with the bdy aches and brain fog.

Looking fowad to your responses!
Nicole

I am in Valencia area...LA county. I did go to Dr. Ordog's office one tme. He is not very reputable in court. I'm not sure if you have an attorney or not but I have talked to numerous attorneys who say Dr. Ordog has become less and less reputable. After visiting his office one time I decided he was not the doctor for me.

I do see Dr. Heuser in Augora. The hyperbaric treatment is covered by my insurance and everyone I talk to does better with thier cognitive testing and bloodwork after 10 to 20 treatments. If you want to know more about this I can forward you the information I have. There is definately a difference with my Spect Scan before and afterwards. My headaches aren't as bad either since have been doing this. I know Dr. Heuser has talked at conferences about this and also has written a book about

The doctor I saw for Neuro testing wa Paul Satz at the UCLA Neuro Institute, Westwood Plaza 90095. His testing was $3000 per person but our attorneys paid upfront for the evaluation. I also have a pulmonary doctor and a ENT that are all working together to help with our recovery. The pulmonary doctor is a gem!

We have been out of our mold house now for 8 months. I just bought the grapefruit seed extract yesterday and will see how we feel after trying this.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Bonnie,

The toxins levels in our house were off the charts high! Our attonrey, and team of doctors have never seen levels like this in a house. The mold had been there for quite some time and at one point the landlord opened the walls and put fans on the mold to hlep dry it up. Instead it went more airborne as you could expect. That is why they think our levels in our blood and saliva are so high. Everyone who went in our house truly got sick within minutes. They experienced eye problems, stomach upset, dizziness if they spent more then 15 minutes in the house. Even the mold testers got sick.

According to our doctors and the attorneys they have never seen numbers this extreme. The family who lived there before us moved because they were sick yet the landlord did absolutley nothing about it. They rented the house to us knowing it was contaminated. At one point after the landlord finally did mold testing she wrote us a letter saying "her mold test results were for her eyes only!" At that point my husband moved us into tents.

My husband, myself, and the two teenagers have all been on antifungal meds...and now we are doing the grapefruit seed extract. All of us are on the diet and have been for 4 months. We still aren't feeling well.

Our attoney had a enviromental specialist come and take samples at our new place to see if we were being cross contaminated. We haven't been. We had put most of our belongings in storage or disposed of them when were advised to.

We fianally have our first court date in June.

If you have any other suggestions on how to feel better we are open to ty anything and everything that might help!

Bonnie,

We were taking Sporonox but now we are trying the GSE. The kids are doing better then I am. The HBO really helps with the brain fog an concentration.

You are in the LA area right? I would love to talk to you.

BonnieJ,

Am really curious to know where you came by the info that sporanox is so horrible. I've been using it for about 6 months now and it's worked better than anything else including GSE (which seems to help, but is not nearly as powerful an antifungal as the sporanx).

Just saw my mold doc (in TX) today and asked him about the liver problems from sporanox. He reported treating 3,000 patients and only two having liver related problems during sporanox treatment.

From what I've read on the sporanox, the statements that it is bad for liver is based on biased data. I seem to recall (albiet, through mold fogged brain) that sporanox was given undeserved "bad rap" in one test where patients on sporanox had many other health problems that likely led to the liver problems.

If you've read or heard otherwise please let us know. Thx in advance.

Thanks Bonnie. I had no idea and it's always good to be better informed when talking to any doc about this stuff. Am happy to report that I've had no CHF symptoms to date (other than always being tired fighting the mold demons). In addition, as per other write-ups I've read on web, my doc does blood tests every month to check for possible adverse effects on liver.

Unfortunately, damage often occurs to the liver before it becomes apparent via the liver test results.
