If anyone saw my other post, this is a follow-up. We found where the mold smell was coming from- our gas log fireplace. It seems that the fireplace box is inserted into some kind of a wood construction that then has bricks around it with a vent to the outside. The inside of the fire box (where we can see the wood behind where the gas line comes in) smell TOTALLY like that awful mildew smell. We have never lit the fireplace. So does anyone know if we have to completely replace the fireplace box and wood behind it? Ugh! TIA!
